The Case of the Disappearing Adverts

A few fairly confused site users have emailed us asking where their ads have gone: they posted them ok, but suddenly they disappeared from the site. Though we do try to email users individually if we need to withdraw their ad, we can't always. If an ad is inexplicably withdrawn, it can usually be explained in one of three ways.

Firstly, we have a policy of allowing only one ad per item/service/whatever being advertised. This is so the site doesn’t get cluttered up with the same ad, and thus make it clearer and more useful for users looking. And by the way Mr SuperLaminatesSparkly, changing the ad heading doesn’t make it a different ad.

Secondly, each website is a community website, dedicated to a particular city/area. Therefore, internet companies, national and international companies/offers are generally not deemed relevant for each particular community.

Thirdly, if the ad is a con, generally illegal or otherwise against our T&Cs (see the link at the bottom of every page), it’ll be taken down. We err on the side of caution and tend to take down ads that aren’t clear about what is being offered. Also, users can have their say: at the bottom of each ad is a "Not Allowed" button, which if you press the ad is flagged up to the moderators.

The site is moderated to make it relevant for the people living in its particular area; ads that aren’t relevant or look dodgy go. This hopefully makes the site more useful for the users and a more friendly, and following Mr. Adzooks's orders, a more family-oriented site.
